Merlot - Castello delle Regine
By careful selection of the best grapes from historic vineyards vinified separately the wine is aged in French oak barrels for at least twelve months and ages in bottle for a further twenty four months. Deep ruby red in color, the nose offers aromas of ripe black cherry, sour cherry and black cherry with notes of coffee and chocolate. The palate is elegant with great structure and body. Serving temperature: 18 ° C PRODUCTION AREA The vines of our Merlot grows in a beautiful series of hills between the towns of Narni and Amelia from 150 to 280 meters s.l.m. with perfect loamy soil. The vineyards are in a great South West exposure. Castello delle Regine's Merlot was planted in the current territory since the early 1900s and today has taken its own typicality what the French call "terroir". HARVEST From the first week of September with manual collection. FERMENTATION AGEING In stainless steel tanks from 50 to 110 hl, with daily plunging at a controlled temperature for 14-18 days. Malolactic and aging in Allier barriques for 12 months and then mature in the bottle for another 24 months.
